Description: (updated 2017-05-22)
From the HCCO Meetup event (https://www.meetup.com/HumanistOhio/events/239646831/):
“As per the time honored tradition, we’ll be paddling this summer just as we’ve done in times past. We’ll also be getting Mexican food afterward too!
Bring your sunscreen, your pith helmets, and your safari shirts. Bring your bottles of water, your camouflage trucker hats, and waders!
Be ready to canoe the rough waters of Darby Creek!”
This event is family friendly and you are asked to moderate your language and conversation subjects to reflect that. Please do not bring any alcohol with you, and make sure that all food and beverage containers are not made out of glass. Please visit the Trapper John’s website (http://www.trapperjohnscanoeing.com/) to learn more about pricing, rules of the livery, and how long you should expect it to take.
Shoes that can go in water and that attach firmly to your foot (not flip flops) are recommended, as the creek bottom is rocky if you need to get out and push your boat, and flip flops are likely to be stolen by the current. Please leave electronics and anything you don’t want to lose to the creek in the car when you start your journey. Sunscreen is also highly recommended.
Open Hearts is happy to be partnering with the Humanist Community of Central Ohio to host this event. While HCCO is a secular organization, you are welcome to come to this event no matter what your religious orientation, provided that you do not intend to proselytize to the Humanists.
Please ask Rose if you have any questions and please arrive on time, otherwise the group may hit the creek without you.
